Help me get MuthaF***in’ Famous!

Monday April 5th- Any publicity is Good publicity… especially when it’s Really Good Publicity.

I’m a slow blogger. So what? I didn’t grow up dreaming about being a blogger :) I dreamt about writing music and having people liking my music. And here’s an example of someone liking my music:
http://thegatewayonline.ca/articles/arts-entertainment/2010/03/31/album-review-tiff-hall-new-fabulous
I know. So sweeeeeeet. I’m pretty impressed, and excited, and I added  something about this to some lyrics for a song I wrote the other day. Maybe you’ll hear it if you buy the second album when it comes out. Because yes, there will be one.
But if you liked reading this, you should read my blog! http://www.thefabtiffhall.blogspot.com

 Jan 29th- A Stiff Tiff

Remember when I was trying to name a shot after myself? Yah, you’re right, that was fun… I bet you’ve already guessed what it is just from the name of this blog haven’t you? Yah, cause you’re a smart cookie!

I haven’t decided for sure WHAT a Stiff Tiff is… it could just be a drink, but I’m a shooter girl. The byproduct of too many years of my short life being spent working in a bar…
Tequila’s my favorite. I saw on twitter tequila with cinnamon to replace the salt, and an orange slice to replace the lemon. Thank you twitter! I am learn-ed from you! I’ve tried this one, it’s tasty. And still gonna land you on your ass. Just like me. But let me know if you have any other suggestions, it might result in a prize at Blues on Whyte next weekend!!!! You like prizes right!!!??? Me too

So Blues on Whyte??!!! Yah!

Me and those handsome boys will be playing there Sunday Feb 7, and we’ve got your fav Fab tunes, and some of your fav old-skool R’n'B tunes too… you like James Brown right? Yah, me too
So come on out! Especially if you’re like me and don’t work on Mondays. You can have a Stiff Tiff!

If you don’t make it out to Blues, I’ve got a few gigs coming up this month. But don’t be lame. Come to Blues.
More details on the other gigs later! And I wanna hear your suggestions for a Stiff Tiff!

Jan 5th -Happy/Hungry New Years

I sit down at my desk and start reading people’s blogs and most of ‘em are about newyears and their resolutions, or whatever they feel about that. I guess I wouldn’t say I HATE that stuff… but it’s dumb in my world. New Years is an excuse to get super drunk, and a reason for businesses to close down so I can’t call and order a pizza when I’m hungover the next day. Actually I’m not sure it was the next day… what day was New Years?
I actually didn’t get super drunk cause I was playing at the RP but I do remember being hungry…
I don’t make resolutions. That’s the point of this blog. I don’t get all sappy and think about how my year has gone… to be honest I still think the “year” starts in September. Like the school year. I think I’ve been out of school for five years hahaha man I’m smart…
If I did make a resolution this year it would be to party with my friends more. I feel like I work alot… but I saw someone’s tweet the other day that I thought was cool. It said that Dr Oz (that other dude Oprah made famous) says your resolution should be to get more sex, get more sleep and eat more. I’m pretty sure everyone can get on board with that. But then that’s sad next year… imagine you next year after making that resolution, and you feel guilty cause you didn’t keep THAT resolution… shit… hahaha that sucks if you can’t manage to sleep/eat/”sleeeeeep” more…

Dec 9th – Baby’s First RADIO interview Part 2

I

survived!

I didn’t swear, I didn’t make up any lies, I didn’t do anything THAT embarrassing… but they did drag some information out of me.
Take his Shirt off: I never really told ALOT of people who the song was about… and if you know me, you know I have a huge mouth. I tell everything. All the time. No secrets evahhh.
So somehow I found myself talking about the origins of that song, and I know I’d be alittle more than alittle embarrassed to tell the guy who its about, that its about him.
But that’s what I talked about in radio land, it was a BLAST. I think I want to be extra MuthaF***in’ Famous now, because I want to do that kind of stuff all the time. If you didn’t get a chance to tune in and listen to it, heres the link to their website, where you can listen to a podcast of the “Take His Shirt Off” portion of the interview. I blushed to myself while listening to it, but its all good :)

Dec 7th -Baby’s first RADIO interivew PART 1

That’s right. Someone wants me to TALK on the radio…

I have this … condition. I’m not nervous, I’m not talkin’ stage fright… I want to say bad things when that microphone gets in front of my face.
I BE TALKIN’ BOUT CUSS WORDS Y’ALL.
I also want to make up lies about myself… all for the soul purpose of being funny. I had a friend tell me once that life wasn’t JUST about doing things ’cause they were funny. I had to disagree.
But *sigh* I won’t be telling any lies tomorrow morning on MAGIC 99. The very radio station that is responsible for giving me the monies to get the album done, is interviewing me tomorrow morning! I’m not sure what time it airs yet, but I’ll let you know as soon as I do!

I’ve also got another behave-yourself-Tiff-event this week:
I’m playing Breakfast Television Friday the 11th
So PLEAAAASE check that out, ’cause I’m stoked!

Dec 2nd – The “MuthaF*#$in Famoussssss!!!!” campaign

If you’ve seen my anything-but-smart facebook statuses, than you probably saw that one too. I’m trying to get MuthaF*$@in’ Famoussssss. So I’m looking up “How to get muthaf*%$@in’ famous” on google, and there are some interesting tips and strategies. Here’s one I saw, I should try to have a “Happy Meal”. My poison is Doritos, but that’s not what we’re really talking about here. I should have something named after me. What they mean is, if I had a house gig somewhere, I should approach the managers about having a drink or a menu item named after me. One time I was visiting a local bar, and we ordered a shot that didn’t have a name, and in our honour decided to call it “Small Town Trash”. But we had a few of those shots, and now I don’t remember what was in them. I work in bars… so you can see where this is going…

I think I should have a shot named after me!!!!

But I don’t know what kind of shot it should be… or exactly what it would be called. Probably some kind of tequilla in it… but I’m not set on that either… what do you think it should be?

So this is what I propose! If you read this, then you should try to think up some kind of shot to be named after me and my album… so something like “The Fabulous” … or “The New Fab”… I’m not 100% sure yet…

Maybe even “The MuthaF#@*in’ Famous” shot!!! hahahahahaha I like that one alot.

In the meantime… you think about that… I’ll think about that… and we’ll come up with something…

Nov. 20th – More Press releases!

I’ve mentioned Natalie Harper before. But here’s the Press Release off of her website. This is good stuff guys! I’m totally stoked!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

NATALIE HARPER PR PROUDLY PARTNERS WITH RECORDING ARTIST, TIFF HALL

Two of Edmonton’s Most Dynamic Females Unite to take Over the World…(sort of)

Edmonton, AB (November 17, 2009) – Natalie Harper PR, an independent public and artist relations company specializing in entertainment publicity, event management and business communications, is proud to boast about the new addition to its client roster. The Fabulous Tiff Hall recently became the first non-country-related recording artist to join the talented Natalie Harper PR artist roster.

Armed with classical piano lessons combined with a penchant for pop music from when she was a child, Tiff studied composition and jazz piano at Grant MacEwan in Edmonton, Alberta. She is known for her powerful vocals and edgy pop/jazz sound. Her debut CD, ‘The New Fabulous’ is being touted as a mix of urban-soul vibes with bright, entertaining lyrics. Based around jazzy piano riffs and smoky vocals, the album is fresh, young and groovalicious.

“The first time I was fortunate to experience a Tiff Hall show, she was performing at a popular duelling piano bar, and she leaped out at me as a both a compelling vocalist and entertainer,” said Natalie Harper, founder of Natalie Harper PR. “It’s important for me to work with people who are both talented and tenacious, and have the ability to stand-out as well as capture audience attention. Tiff certainly impressed me with her talent and her humour, and it was clear to me why so many people have gravitated towards her and regularly go and see her shows.”

Natalie and Tiff united professionally months after a coincidental meeting at their neighbourhood pub. The two were an immediate fit for one another, and both saw a remarkable opportunity to collaborate to help Tiff grow her music career, engage new fans and grow her profile.

Natalie Harper PR is excited to help shine a spotlight on the Fabulous Tiff Hall, and hopes you’ll follow along on the fabulous journey.

You can catch Tiff Hall this Wednesday night (November 18), at the Pawn Shop (10549 82 Ave, Edmonton) at 9 p.m. where she will be featured with local band Paramedic at the Candice Chantrell CD release party. Check out the Facebook invite for full details. You can also expect a killer CD release party coming to Calgary in early 2010.

Nov 17th- Adventures in Internet

Dear Twitter: You suck.

I‘m seriously SO computer illiterate, it’s getting ridiculous. If it were up to me, I’d promote “The New Fabulous” on Craig Ferguson, and that’s it. People would buy it, chant my name, and book me and a 15 piece band every other weekend, and I could go sit in a pub the other weekends. Or even better… stay home! With Doritos… and Bird.

But alas. That is not the way. I’m trying to hop on the “Twitter” train, and seriously. Someone just do it for me. Just show me where I get to put the half-ass funny “status” thingys, and how to “untag” unflattering pictures of me. That’s all I really want to do, but I need to get the word out. Spread the fabulous gospel.

But… that’s why I’ve joined up with Natalie Harper! That’s why I’m now a happy member of her team, and we can all fight the war against Internet Explorer together.

http://www.natalieharperpr.webs.com

She’s fun, she has the same “neighborhood pub” as I do. Check her and the rest of the team out.

Also… if you’re hip and trendy, and like Twitter… feel free to check out my twitter page. (Yah, I know. Theres nothing on it. Thats twitter for you…)

http://twitter.com/FabTiffHall

Yup. I dunno. I’ll figure it out. I didn’t want to hop on the Facebook train back in the day either… but then I joined up, and spent all night setting up my page and stalking people. So maybe I’ll end up liking it. Speaking of facebook…

http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#/pages/Tiff-Hall/75144295660?ref=ts

(That doesn’t look as pretty as the other links…) If you haven’t checked out the “Fan Page” that’s where I do more of the professional stuff I have to do… more about The New Fabulous, and less about the random rants about … I dunno, Craig Ferguson.

See you guys Wednesday at the Pawnshop!

I’m obviously pretty excited to be playing a show like this, especially in the Yardbird Suite. It’s usually a venue reserved for the heavy jazz players in town, and it’s such a beautiful room, I can’t wait to get in there and raunch it all up… no I promise. I’ll be on my best behaviour.

Also, I wanted to mention the Pawnshop gig. I promise, the ridiculous fun that will be had that night… my pal Jesse Peters from Paramedic keeps saying its going to be epic, and I agree. Whole heartedly. Come on out, bring your pals, and lets get jiggy with it.

Oct 28th- Pawnshop-aganza

Hey hey hey blogster-readers! I’d like to introduce you to someone very funny, and dear to my heart: My lil sis… who’s probably a foot taller than me, but still younger. Lets call her “Bamwell”. She’s running away at the moment, claiming to be too busy to participate, but I reminded her that less than two seconds ago she was lying on the floor wondering if that shiney black thing was a suspender or a belt…
She has come to stay with me and Bird, after living on an Organic buffalo farm in Sask, with a bigger bird than Bird. His name is Digby. I obviously didn’t have anything to do with naming him otherwise he would be called “Bigger Bird”.
So for the sake of this interview, Bamwell will be BW and I’ll be TFF. Got it? Ok, good. Lets begin.

BW: Can we spell check this after?

TFF: hahaha I think that’s for the best…

BW: So I heard a rumor that you have a gig coming up…?

TFF: Surrrre do. Pawnshop, Nov 18 with Candice Chantrell and Paramedic

BW: Have you played at the Pawnshop before?

TFF: We played there a few months back. It was TONS of fun and we got alittle drunk :P I opened up for Paramedic’s CD Release Party.

BW: That was your first presentation of “The New Fabulous” was it not?

TFF: Way back before we even had the CD Release party! We did the show, people came out, and I didn’t even have CDs for sale yet. It was a “warm up” for me to get used to being on the stage.

BW: Did it succeed? In warming you, I mean.

TFF: I was warm. Yes.

BW: Anything coming up after November 18th?

TFF: Yah! I’m part of the Magic 99 Christmas Fundraiser at the Yardbird Suite in Dec. The details haven’t been released yet, but it’s a charity event, and I’m one of the three performers that night.

BW: How did that one come to be?!

TFF:The Magic 99 peeps asked me through the power of the internet. They’ve been amazing in supporting the “New Fab” since the very beginning.

BW: People have been talking of… what was it? An umbrella with you naked on it?

TFF: Lol no! There’s a photo from my photoshoot that I LOOK naked in… but I’m not! I rolled up
my jeans and held the big green umbrella in front of me. (sexy, I know…) No scandals, it’s just the BGU. (Big Green Umbrella) Although, it’s probably better for my career if there’s naked pics leaked onto the internet.

So that’s my sister. And she’s correct. Candice Chantrell got in touch with me, and we’re now working on Nov 18. It’s a wednesday so if you like partying on weekdays, then you’ll be there. I’m also first up, so if you work on thursdays, then you still have time to watch the show before you have to get to bed. I really hope to see you there, and I promise to let you know more about it as soon as I know.
Also, the Christmas Fundraiser with Magic 99, big time fun stuff, but I still know very little about it. But you KNOW I’ll give you the lowdown as soon as I can.

My good buddy Gregg had some good ideas about future interview/blog posts. I heart that kind of stuff, so feel MORE than free to participate!

Oct 14th- A new strategy…

Yes. That’s right. I want to try something new, and I would like you to be involved. In all honesty, I hate writing these things… I have no idea what to write, I’m not witty on paper, and I can’t spell. So I want to try something, tell me what you think of it, feel free to facebook me, or email me,  just TELL me what you think of it. I want my blog entries to be interviews. And… there’s no one home right now, cause I just got up, and its 1. Sooo, my first interviewer for this little experiment shall be: Birday. He actually just shot me a look of shock and surprise! Ok ok… lets try this:

BRD: So how did Edson go?

TFF: Good! We showed up, the sound guy was really old, we laughed about that, (cause he couldn’t hear anything) so we set it up. The show went really well, it’s a nice stage in there, lots of family both nights, then we got drrrrunk. Should we put that in there?

BRD: So… if you were getting drunk in Edson who was supposed to fill my water dish that weekend?

TFF: sssssssaaahhhhaaa… sorry about that. I thought you’d be ok for two days…

BRD: Yah. So what are your plans now?

TFF: Well, I’ve that meeting with Natalie tonight, and we’re gonna talk about Calgary, and what we could possibly do with that. I’d like to get down there and play a show but I don’t know anyone down there, so I’d like to hire her to make me some Calgary friends.

BRD:  … You’re just having drinks at the pub down the street aren’t you?

TFF: Ha! … no… we’ll talk about work too… we met at that bar. Liquor brings people together…

BRD: I guess so. I like this toy with the rope on it…

I thought that went well! Bird doesn’t really talk or anything… so I’d prefer if you guys could help me out with that. Feel more than free to email me questions, or facebook me, and also, let me know what you thought of that! Tiff Hall on facebook, (add me I luhv friends) or Thenewfabmusic@live.ca  I’d love to hear back from you! That was alot easier than trying to come up with blog-friendly stuff myself… I’m just blog-lazy I guess.

Oct 9th- I’m thankful for gravy…

...but my photo’s at my next gig might not be! :P Me Ma came over tonite and we ate ALOT. But that’s to be expected. Still alittle sniffly from the fall sickness, but that’s also to be expected.

In between Advil Sinus tablets and a few sips of white wine (possibly a hot totty…) I managed to load up some of the pics from the Edson Release party. Mmmhmm this sickness was worth the fun I had that whole week! I managed to drag my buns down to the Haven Social Club where Jonny Mac was hosting the jam, which happens every Wednesday nights, and hooo boy. Good times. I would suggest it to anyone, love jazz or not, get YOUR fine buns down there.

I’m also working on something for Calgary. I’ve got a meeting this week with someone who I think can help me out… I don’t want to get your hopes up too high just yet, so I’ll let you know next week for sure what’s happenin’. But it’s exciting! And that’s not even cold meds talkin’ here…

But the pics: yes. They are up. They’re on facebook, they’re up here, there’s also a great pic of me on the FRONT PAGE of the Edson Leader. Which makes me pretty cool if you ask me or me Ma. So please, feel free to take a look. Admire the boys, they are handsome, handsome men, and unbelievable players. I swear, you can tell just by looking at these pics…

After you enjoy those pictures, make sure you enjoy your Thanksgiving holidays this weekend. Drink lots, it helps digest the turkey :P

Oct 6th- The Verdict is in…

To all my fabulous friends reading this, you might want to keep some distance for the next few days. I’ve got fall ickiness. It’s probably all my birthday celebrating… now I’m chuggin’ Nyquil, and snuggled up to a box of Puff’s Vicks Kleenex on the couch watching Oprah. (Good episode too… this little seven year old girl with schizophrenia… you should watch it)
But I did find some time between naps to get some work done and it has been brought to my attention that Ed Moore from the Edson Leader has written a review of my Edson show. Excellent! I love this stuff! I read something like this, giggle, read it out loud to my bird, Birday, and we both giggle. Here’s a link if you wanna go check it out:
http://edsonleader.com/ArticleDisplay.aspx?e=1974321
Awesomeness. I would love to work on something else for Edson, cause we just had way too much fun (I’m regretting some of the fun now.. sniffle cough cough)
So thanks to the Edson Leader for both of the articles they did, thanks to all the friends, family, and fans that came out that weekend, and thanks to Gallaway’s Pub for getting us good and loaded ;)

Thanks for reading! and thanks for reading the Edson Leader!

Sept 28th- The gong show that was my Edson birthday

The drive out to Edson wasn’t bad considering that I turned 25 the night before, and met up with some good pals who took “good” care of me… but I made it! We show up at the Red Brick, the boys show up, Steve, Khi, and Ian, and we set up. I think the sound guy was as old as the building… he probably had went to school there when the RedBrick was still a school… but sweet. They help us out, we sound great, the room is great, everything is fine. The whole show was nice. Different then playing in a bar… you’ve got a bright spotlight, and you can’t see the crowd, and that can either ease your nerves, or (if you’re like me) make them worse! But it sounded nice, and it was a beautiful venue to play in, especially for my family to come and check out the show. Which was great! It was like a family reunion both nights, each night being a different side of the family.

But of course, we had to celebrate my birthday AGAIN… especially since we stayed in a hotel right above Gallaway’s Pub… it was a good time. Don’t worry, we didn’t screw up the show the next night :P

It was good times, in my old hometown, and I’m glad that those who came out did. It was great to see everybody!

Sept 22nd- Goin’ home for my Birfday

Hello my fabulous friends. I wanted you to know that I turn 25 in a couple of days, and I’m celebrating with a CD release in Edson. The other day I had a chance to talk to Victoria Carnaghan over the phone, and I read her work this afternoon. I’m not sure that I’m a very good interview-ee but I suppose I’ll get better at it hahaha I resisted my natural urge to say stupid things just to see if they’d make it into the paper, or make up random “facts” that sounded funny… I’m serious, I actually turn 25 in two days… so I put on my big-girl pants and gave a proper interview. Considering that it’s a pretty big part of promoting the show, I thought I’d better grow up juuuust alittle bit.
So I think you guys should check it out! Here’s the link:
http://www.edsonleader.com/ArticleDisplay.aspx?e=1764005

and here, for everyone who’s lazy in their old age like me:

Edson singer to host ‘Fabulous’ party

By Victoria Carnaghan

Former Edson resident Tiff Hall will take to the stage at the Red Brick Arts Centre Sept. 25 and 26 to celebrate the release of her first album, a pop/soul CD titled The New Fabulous.

Hall will perform about 10 songs with her band, Atlas Shrug — which is composed of a group of friends from her days at the Grant MacEwan music program — to celebrate the release of her 10-track CD, which contains all original songs.

Hall says since the early July launch of The New Fabulous in Edmonton, response has been great. In fact, her mom has to continually ask her Edmonton-based daughter for more CDs because mom keeps selling out of them in Edson.

Hall describes her music as “pop-soul.”

“It’s pop, but it does have a throw back to soul and maybe some R&B kind of styles.”

Stew Kirkwood produced the album and helped Hall co-write one of the songs. Hall met the Edmonton producer through contacts at the Ivory Club where she has performed for the last few years as part of a duelling piano act.

Hall estimates it took her about a year and half to finish the album. It was partly funded through a grant she received from an Edmonton radio station.

Hall has been playing piano since she was seven years old, but really got her start as a professional after graduating from the performance and composition program at MacEwan.

The recently turned 25-year-old says although she has performed in her hometown for a number of events in recent years, she gets more nervous singing here than in the city. “It’s actually more nerve-racking because people know me. It’s easier to play in front of strangers. But I really like it,” she said. “It’s a nice way of giving back.”

She said her family and groups like the Rotary Club have been particularly supportive of her music career.

“I like to play to show everybody what I’ve done with the lessons I started with in Edson. I consider myself a success, I’ve got a budding career and I think it’s going really well. I want to show them I appreciated growing up here and what I learned from here.”

Tickets for the 7 p.m. performances can be purchased at the Red Brick or by e-mailing thenewfabmusic@live.ca.

Hall can be found online at www.tiffhall.com, a website designed by an Edson webmaster.

Article ID# 1764005

Also: the tickets can be purchased at Freezen Hot Music, and I’ve got a few myself. You can also pick ‘em up at the door right before the show, but you might not get one :( They’re going fast…

And Also: if anyone has any good ghost stories about the Red Brick I’d LOOOOOVE to hear them, nothing makes me happier than not being able to sleep at night…

September 13th-Online

It’s pretty cool that if someone asks where they can get my cd, that I can tell them its on Itunes… this being a musician thing is funny :P

I like to go and check it out, see how awesome it looks, and if I wasn’t me, I’d buy it. But of course, I’ve already got a box of them sitting beside my couch so…

When I filled out all of the online forms for this thing, the internet wanted to know about swear words… and I tried to tell it that only the one song really has any swear words, but there wasn’t a way for me to do that. So I ended up with a parental advisory on it, and all the songs say EXPLICIT in that little red box thingy… so I look alot more badass than I actually am. I think there’s a few bad words here and there, but I’m not talking about alot of them… if you’ve heard the album you know what I mean. Karma: yes. There are some interestingly flavoured words in that song. Sweet sweet lovin’: no. There aren’t any interestingly flavoured words, that song is as “vanilla” as it gets. But I figured hey, maybe the teenagers’ll buy it now, I dunno…

On a side note, I’ve got a new job! I have joined the ranks over at the Red Piano in the West Edmonton Mall, and I gotta say… it’s a helluva lotta fun there! And the food is rumored to be fantastic, but I haven’t tried it yet, I gotta work on paying some rent first :P Check out: www.Redpiano.ca

Also I’m writing again. Got lots to say I guess, which is always good for the ol’ creative juices. I can’t say that I’m ready to be in the studio yet, I’m still having way to much fun with The New Fab.

But thats about it guys! Hope to see you at the Edson Release party, or maybe come by and have a drink with me at the Red Piano,

OR

You should go check out Tiff Hall on itunes, it looks pretty awesome! Write alittle review or something… and for every star you give the album, there’s a cookie in it for ya! – heart tiff

August 28th-Got this thing together!

Apologies on the not-informing-you thingy… but me and bird have been pretty un-interesting… it was Shark-week after all…

But I did want you to know that the Red Brick is a go! The facebook event has been made, a new dress has been eyed up… that’s always a good sign…

Now I have to start looking up some ghost stories… I did make a promise to you guys, and I intend to stand by it. There will be ghost stories, and I’ve recently been informed that there will be cookies, and baking, and such. My mom and her pal said they will make some goodies for you guys, I told her I was more concerned about where the band was going to sleep… but don’t worry, we found a roof for them. :P

So if you’re reading this, and you know a few good anecdotes about the good ol’ Red brick, you should email me about it! No seriously! Thenewfabmusic@live.ca cause I’d love to hear ‘em!

Oh, and don’t forget… the show starts at 7, tickets are $10 and it’s my birthday that weekend, sooo…. you HAVE to come down now! Atleast to wish me a happy B-day!

August 6th-Theres a release comin’ your way!

First of all, we had a great time at Axis Cafe, and the band played beautifully. Always some drinks to be had afterwards, we’ve got to celebrate!

But I’ve gotten back to work, and started planning. My next step is to take over Edson. That’s right, my home town is goin’ dooooowwwwnn…

No, I’m kidding. But we ARE doing a show at the Red Brick Center! It’s this fabulous old building that I’ve heard a ton of ghost stories about… I love ghost stories! I’m going to look up all kinds of ghost stories and tell them in between songs on stage…

That one I’m not kidding about. So if you like ghost stories, we’ll see you there ;)

I think its one of the oldest buildings in town actually! So of course its haunted. Of course!

And the stage is nice, with this great stadium seating. Very comfortable. I never had the opportunity to play there growing up, my piano recitals were always down the street in this nice little church. *Shudder* Piano recitals… I’m still haunted by THOSE memories…

But I ramble. It’s going to be a great show, I’m so super pysched, I hope to see an entire branch of my family tree there, and it’s very exciting stuff to be doing a show in a nice center like this. I hope you join us! Heart Tiff

July 22nd- Preppin’ the new gang!

So the usual band is in Calgary this weekend, freein’ me up to play with some of my other pals from ol’ Grant Mac. I’m very excited to have Amy Wolkowski, Keith Rempel and Catherine Hiltz up on stage with me! These guys are tons of fun, easy going and have chops for days! We rehearsed the other day and it sounded great, and its a longer set then I’ve played before, so we get to throw some cool covers in there.

I really like the covers we have in there too, its a great way to show the audience some of the other artists that I collect inspiration from. The funny thing about it is, I never grew up listening to this style of music! When I was a kid, I listened to what my parents liked, country, gross 80’s and early 90’s pop… eeww… I’m not sure where this soul, RnB thing came in… but it’s very interesting where this stuff comes from.

On another note…. I phoned up my friend the other day and she said they listen to Magic 99 at work. So there she is, sellin’ shoes, and “Take his Shirt off” comes on and she announces, “Hey! That’s my friend!” cause we’re friends! She’s excited! She’s listenin’ to her pal on the radio! Well, this young woman is in the store and she says, “You know this chick? I’ve been wanting to buy her album, but I don’t know where to do that!”

!!!

I’m blown away by this. I met another couple at one of my gigs that said they’d heard me on the radio, and had been trying to catch one of my gigs for alittle while now…

!!!

I love this stuff! That, right there, is EXACTLY why I’m a musician! I love the fact that these people appreciate something that came out of my little wishwashy head! Not only do I get the opportunity to write music, to record it, and to play it, but people actually like it!!! There was a happy little golden nugget in my heart after meeting those people that makes the few small hiccups I’ve encountered, all so much easier to bear. I thanks them!

Anyway…I’m getting sentimental, and it’s gonna be a great show! I’m super stoked, and I hope to see you guys there! Check out www.Axiscafe.ca to see this hip lil joint downtown!

July 9th – Blue chair this friday boys n gals (Friday July 10)

I’m opening up the show, and warming up the crowd at The Blue Chair Cafe this Friday, (and Ceili’s Irish Pub this Saturday!) Hopefully, you were at the CD release party, but if you weren’t, then maybe I’ll see you at the Blue Chair. Thea Neumann, my good pal is playing some songs off of her recently finished demo “Thirteen Cents” , and there will be loads of fun times. You may have heard of her, she’s the lady behind (and frontin’ most nights!) Southern Sunday’s at Prohibition, which we played a couple of weeks ago. She’s got myspace and all that jazz, you should check her out, www.myspace.com/theajayne .

The Blue Chair is 9624 76 Ave if you’ve never been. A great intimate place to check out the artists up close and personal. Check out www.Bluechair.ca to see their website and menu and stuff like that (great food!) and see you there!

July 3rd – CD release gong show

So many thanks to everyone who came out to the Haven Social Club last night, if awesome people like you guys don’t come out to shows, then I’m drunk in a basement by myself…

No seriously, thanks to everyone, there were some great people out there, friends, fam, Rawlco representatives… the list goes on and on… Thanks to the Haven for being the best place to be! Thanks to Lori from Magic 99! Thanks to Stew and Neil, the awesome opening act, they definetly warmed up the whole crowd and partied it up afterwards with us! It means so much when something that you put so much work and heart into turns out to be way too much fun, but also inspiring. Knowing that the entire room is filled with people that want to hear good music, and have a good time, and support local artists makes the entire thing worthwhile. It’s exactly why we do these things, and put these shows together. Without you guys, it just doesn’t work. So much kudos to everyone who made it work last night, and who plans on being at the next one! ;)

Also, thanks to the band, Steve Frise, Khi Mattu and Ian Morris, you guys make both shows and rehearsing fun and easy!

We’ll see all of you next time-heart tiff

The Haven Social Club!!!

It is the day I’ve been working towards for EVAH now! Finally, you can check out The New Fabulous, in all it’s live glory, AND buy the beautifully produced album for your very own. The CD’s look as good as they sound, and the band plays as good as they look ;)

So come on down to The Haven Social Club on Thursday July 2nd, doors open at 7 30 and the show will be all over and done with by 11 because I know you might have one of those day-job thingys and might need to get to bed earlier than me. I understand. That’s why I opted to have the time slots that we have. For you! I did it for you!

CD RELEASE CONFIRMED!

It’s finally ready! The whole thing is good to go! I have right here the press release. I’ll let you read this, cause we’re pals ;)

for immediate release:

TIFF HALL RELEASES DEBUT CD

Emerging songwriter, vocalist and keyboardist Tiff Hall is building a buzz around

herself. Her evocative debut album is an eclectic yet accessible and cohesive

mix of R & B, pop and soul that adds up an impressive first offering. If preliminary reviews of the ‘

release party are any indicator, she is ready to break out in a big way.The CD has been carefully engineered by Sound Extractor’s Stew Kirkwood to

revolve around Hall’s truly fabulous vocals. Whether crooning softly on the

ballad, “Happily Ever After,” or the sweet soul sound of “Take His Shirt Off”, to

the fine old school R&B of “Sweet Sweet Lovin’”, her expressive voice manages

to connect each song and keeps the album flowing smoothly between grooves.

“I grew up taking piano lessons, screwing up recitals, and hating almost every

second of it. That’s the truth! But I daydreamed about playing the songs I liked on

the radio, and possibly singing. Next thing, I stumbled into Grant MacEwan,

enrolled in the Music program, met tons of great, young musicians, learned to

write my own songs, play jazz… Next thing you know, I’m playing at the Ivory

Club, a dueling piano show, where I’m introduced to Stew Kirkwood… who would

produce my album,” explains Hall.

Multi- talented, multi- instrumentalist, and multi- tasker, Kirkwood engineers and

produces, as well playing guitar, bass, drums, keys, and also takes a hand in cowriting,

doing an excellent of all.

Other local luminaries on this project include horn players Dave Babcock, Bob

Tildesly and J C Jones. Hall’s former piano instructor, Chris Andrew, makes

brilliant guest appearance on one song.

The CD release celebration is taking place at 8:00 pm, Thursday, July 2 at The

Haven Social Club, 15120 A Stony Plain Road. Tickets are $10 at the door; Neil

McDonald and Stew Kirkwood will be opening the show.

Lets do that again!

So there ya have it guys. Hope to see tons and tons of you guys out, The Haven is a great place to hang out and have drinks, a really intimate stage, and (obviously) I’m super excited to have everyone see me and the boys perform “The New Fabulous” live. So see you on Thursday!

Prohibition was way too much fun, if you weren’t there, then you missed out, cause we had tons of fun! I was singing with two beautiful and talented ladies, Thea Neumann, and Lindsey Nagy, and of course, our band was handsome as ever. Watch out for those guys, Atlast Shrug, or The Five Point Quintet, whenever you see that they’re playing somewhere, you wanna get in there and see them!

CD is so close, I have the reverse of ghost pains… I promise, you’ll be able to pick it up when you come out the Haven Social Club on July 2!

Prohibition on Sunday ya’ll

So there will be two other lovely ladies singing on June 21, Thea Neumann, and Lindsey Nagy. Some serious pipes guys…

We’ll start the show for 9 o’clock, and you’ll be there to help us raise the roof, I just know it… ;)

Door’s 5 bucks, good tunes, good drinks, hotties, good times! Help us get this new night at a sweet venue off on the right foot.

Southern Sundays

My good pal Thea Neumann is takin’ charge of Edmonton’s music scene. And you’ll wanna be there. Prohibition is going to be the bee’s knees every sunday night. I’m definetly playing there, and there will definetly be burlesque dancers. I’m serious. You wanna come check this out sunday June 14 @ 8 and see some good music (I’ll be there on the 21).

CD release…YES…

This will be it my babies. The CDs WILL be done, the universe IS cooperating, and good lord it will be fabulous. Don’t forget to invite everyone you know, cause it’s going to be a party. The Haven Social Club is pretty fab all on its own, but when its full of the sweet sweet sound of both mine and Neil MacDonald’s music… hooo boy. So come on down, check it all out, I’ll give you more details as its all planned out. I just want you to get so excited you pee alittle…

Magic 99 rocks

So I was TOTALLY featured on Magic 99 ’s Morning Show Tuesday, May 26. And that’s cool. They even checked out my “myspace” page, and thank gawd I had something up there. Cause they read it. Out loud. On the RADIO.  And of course, I had to have something like “tiff is influenced by bad dates, drinking on whyte ave, and good boyfriends..” something like that. Atleast they thought I was cute and funny… But if you missed it, don’t worry. Just keep listening to Magic 99 cause they will play it again. Woooooboy they will play it again!
